This workshop is a presentation from the city finance director how to read the municipal budget. As we get into budget season, this will get the councilors onto the same page and hopefully reduce confusion.
If you’ve ever looked at the city budget and tried to figure out the structure, this could be the workshop for you!
There is an additional item on the agenda to set a public hearing about the Eversource legal settlement. The City lost a judgment related to over-assessed property owned by a public utility (Eversource), and has to abate the taxes collected. This was not included in the 2026 budget and therefore the council has to figure out another source of money to pay.
